On June 27th, 2022, at approximately 12:30 am, Akron, Ohio police officers were involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker. The incident sparked protests and raised questions about police use of force.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, a traffic stop was attempted near the intersection of Romig Road and East Tallmadge Avenue. Walker fled from the officers, and a pursuit ensued. During the chase, Walker allegedly fired shots from his vehicle.

The officers pursued Walker into a residential neighborhood, where they used their weapons to subdue him. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community Response and Investigation
